Asari Aibangbee is a Nigerian American interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker based in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Their work weaves together tufted fiber art, cyanotypes, and film to explore Black Queer identity, diaspora, and world-building. Through storytelling and tactile archiving, Asari creates portals that honor memory, resistance, and community. They are a 2024–2025 Crafting the Future Artist in Residence and will showcase their largest tufted work at BUTTER Art Fair. Their practice is rooted in care, cultural preservation, and the expansive possibilities of Black Queer imagination.
